Welcome to Griffith working hostels
Griffith Working Hostels will not be accepting new arrivals until further notice.
This decision was not made lightly, but it forms part of our proactive approach to dealing with the worldwide spread of COVID-19 (“Coronavirus”).
There are currently NO cases of COVID-19 in our hostels, nor are there any cases in the Murrumbidgee Local Health District*.
But in order to minimise possible exposure to carriers, we decided that we will not be accepting new arrivals at this time. This includes current residents who choose to (temporarily) depart.
You can help reduce potential for transmission of the virus by following WHO guidelines:
- Wash hands thoroughly and frequently with soap
- Use hand sanitizers where available
- Avoid touching face (eyes, nose and mouth)
- Avoid shaking hands, hugging and/or kissing other people
- Practice respiratory hygiene
- Practice social distancing (1.5m)
- Avoid large gatherings of people, especially outside the Hostels
- Avoid visiting vulnerable people (e.g. the elderly or sick)
- If you have a fever, dry cough, sore throat and/or runny nose, seek medical care early
Please only book for one week. Your booking will automatically extend upon check-in.
We only take bookings up to two weeks in advance.
Payment for the entire booking will be charged to the credit card provided prior to confirmation.
All cancellations will incur a 100% charge of the entire booking.
Griffith Working Hostels is a family-run business in the Riverina, NSW, servicing both backpackers as well as local farmers & producers since 2005. We currently operate two separate and very different properties, both of which provide budget accommodation to international travellers. The key element of our service is matching motivated itinerant workers to seasonal work vacancies all year round. We place an emphasis on working hard and encourage a quiet and tranquil atmosphere in the hostels to relax after work.
WORK and VISA CONDITIONS:
You must hold a Working Holiday Visa (subclass 417) or (subclass 462), student visa, or other valid work entitlement to be considered for a job placement.
We do not guarantee work prior to your arrival, but we have a strong reputation of finding the right work placement once you are here.
We work closely with many different employers and industries. Depending on the season, these include: tree nurseries, juice sheds, wineries, fruit and vegetable packing sheds, construction sites, irrigation installations, handy person work, bars and restaurants, gardening and general weekend work.
If you are holding a Working Holiday Visa (subclass 417), most work placements in Griffith qualify for the second & third year extension.
Holders of the Working Holiday Visa (subclass 462) are limited to employment in plant and animal cultivation for their visa extension. You may still gain employment in other industries, however, these jobs will not count towards your visa extension.
This is a free service to our residents, and unfortunately we cannot currently offer seasonal work placements to people who are not staying with us. The longer you stay, the easier it is to find you ongoing work.
Griffith NSW is located in the heart of the Riverina, some 650km west of Sydney and 500km north of Melbourne.
